Why not try a Rally? - Hints to Ralliers
A rally is a gathering of Caravan Club members, who enjoy a weekend away in their caravans with like minded members. You will always be welcome.
Booking in for Rallies
Please complete one of the rally slips from the centre of this book and send it to the named Rally Officer for the rally concerned at least 17 days before the event.
NB. A commemorative plaque may not be available for late bookers.
You will not receive acknowledgement of your booking automatically unless a rally has to be cancelled or is fully booked. If you forward a stamped addressed envelope, most rally officers will be happy to acknowledge receipt. Extra rally booking slips can be obtained from any Officer or Committee member. Early booking is advised for Bank Holidays and Holiday Rallies. NB. Some rallies have narrow or difficult access or are otherwise unsuitable for large or heavy outfits. If you have any doubts or concerns, please ask the Rally Officer before booking.
Payment
For the majority of rallies except holiday and special rallies, eg Christmas Party, is made on arrival. However, a non-returnable deposit of at least £2 is always required. Tokens can be purchased from the Centre Shop or any Committee members to send through the post in lieu of a cheque.
Undated deposit cheques
Should be made payable to "Caravan Club Ltd. West Hants Centre". NB. This amount will differ for holidays and special rallies and may be requested by Rally Officers who organise special social events. Details will be notified in the write up of relevant rallies.
Children
Are recognised as such until they reach their 17th birthday unless otherwise stated, e.g. when meals are provided when a lower age is specified by the caterer. Please indicate in the spaces provided on the slip how many children will attend socials together with their ages.
Cancellation
If you find at the last minute that you can’t attend a rally, please do everything possible to let the Rally Officers know by the Wednesday prior to the rally. Where expense has been incurred on your behalf for social events/catering etc. which cannot be recovered or re-allocated, you will be responsible for reimbursing the Centre.
What to do After you have booked you rally and the weekend arrives.
Follow the directions in the rally book. As you approach the rally site, you will see small RED directional signs with WHCC lettering on them in white to help you find the entrance.
Rally Officers
Arrange the weekend for you and you will meet them when you arrive on site. Once you have booked in, you will be handed an envelope containing the programme for the weekend, which often includes a competition. You will then be shown to your pitch.
The Rally Officers have given up their time to run the rally and will try to assist you if you experience any difficulty before or during the rally. Please be courteous and appreciative to them at all times.
Social functions and competitions
May be included during the weekend and they are all family events and good fun. Please note that an additional fee may be charged for such activities. Participation is optional.
Other considerations.
Most rally fields do not have toilet facilities but a waste disposal point is always provided. You may require a few blocks of wood for levelling your caravan on sloping fields. This will normally be indicated in the rally write-up.
Flagpole
This is where you and your fellow ralliers gather to hear results of competitions, welcome visitors and new ralliers, hear announcements of forthcoming events and thank the Rally Officers. A notice board is always available giving further Centre information.
Running a rally yourself
Once you have become familiar with rallying, you may like to consider running a rally yourself. The Centre offers members the opportunity to become "Trainee Rally Officers" and run a rally alongside experienced Rally Officers. If you are interested in doing this, please speak to the Honorary Rally Secretary or any Committee member.
